Family Tool Kit
The IAPS Pediatric Stroke Family Tool Kit is a must-have guide for families who are navigating life after a pediatric stroke diagnosis. Whether it’s a perinatal stroke or a stroke as a child or teen, this guide is full of valuable information and resources for all populations of pediatric stroke. It includes information about stroke, definitions of some tricky medical terms, what to expect in terms of your care team and state resources, and suggestions for support groups, literature, and organizations that can provide extra help. The guide is available in English and Spanish to download as a pdf or read as a flip book (scroll down for both versions). You may also print pages from the online pdf book.
While anyone impacted by stroke would benefit from this Tool Kit, we recommend printed copies for the following audiences:
- If you have a newly diagnosed child and want a guide for starting on this journey
- Hospitals who’d like to send home a copy with their pediatric stroke families
- Clinics, doctors, therapists who have pediatric stroke patients
- Families that prefer to have a hard copy rather than look online
Because of high demand and new information in our stroke community, we have updated this document and printed more books for 2024! Both medical providers and families can use this Order Form to request complimentary copies be mailed to you.
We have also had a high demand for printed copies of our Spanish Pediatric Stroke Family Tool Kit, so we will be printing more in early summer of 2024. Please use this Spanish Order Form if you are interested in copies for your Spanish speaking communities.
Thanks to so many generous donations, we have been able to provide these books and ship within the U.S. at no charge. Shipping outside of the U.S. is done on a case by case basis and a donation to our organization may be requested to cover shipping fees.
Over the past three years, we have printed and shipped out over 2,850 of the English books and 1,000 of the Spanish-translated books. These books have been shipped to hospitals, therapy clinics, medical providers, and families not only in the U.S., but also in limited quantities to Canada, Greece, Germany, the UK, and France.
If you’re a family impacted by pediatric stroke and are interested in one-on-one support, we encourage you to also take advantage of our IAPS Support Network. This network is made up of support specialists — parents of children, teens, and young adults who have had a stroke as a baby or child, who are ready to share their lived experiences and resources. We match you to a specialist based on type of stroke, age of child, location, medical conditions, or specific issues. We are here so you don’t have to walk on this journey alone!
